SureSmile® clear aligners in Wayne, NJ
Straighter teeth with clear aligners, not metal braces.
SureSmile clear aligners are a series of clear, removable trays that move your teeth a little at a time. No brackets, no wires. Most people won’t notice you’re wearing them.

Aligners vs braces
Why people choose clear aligners over metal braces
Crowding, a gap, teeth that drifted back after old braces, a bite that’s wearing down. The same handful of things bring most people in. The real question is usually which way to fix them.
01
They come out
Eat what you want, then put them back in. Brush and floss the way you do now, with nothing to thread around.
02
Nothing to break
No bracket coming loose before a weekend, no wire end catching your cheek, no emergency visit to fix either.
03
You see it before you start
Your plan is built from a digital scan, so you can look at where your teeth end up before you commit to anything.
04
Most people won’t notice
The trays are clear and sit flat against your teeth. Nothing like metal brackets at conversational distance.

The daily routine
What wearing clear aligners actually involves
The whole routine is four steps, and most of it you already do. By the end of the first week you won’t be thinking about it.
- 20 hours a day
- Worn day & night. Taken out to eat, brush, or drink anything other than water.
- A new set as you progress
- Each set of trays moves your teeth a little further. You switch to the next one at home, with no appointment needed.
- Every 6 to 8 weeks
- A short visit to check your teeth are moving as planned, and to adjust if they need it.

Step by step
How SureSmile works, from your first visit to your retainer
Step 1 of 6
Find out if aligners suit you
We'll talk through what you'd like to change, take photos and a digital scan of your teeth, and tell you honestly whether clear aligners are right for your case. There's no obligation to go ahead.
Step 2 of 6
See your result before you commit
Before you agree to anything, you'll see your treatment plan, including where your teeth would end up. It's much easier to decide once you can picture it.
Step 3 of 6
Aligners made for your teeth
Your trays are designed from your scan around the movements your teeth need. Each set moves them a little further along the plan.
Step 4 of 6
Your first set, and how to use it
You collect your first trays and we show you how to put them in, take them out, and keep them clean. You'll try it yourself before you leave.
Step 5 of 6
Making sure it stays on track
You'll come back every six to eight weeks so we can make sure your teeth are moving as planned. If anything needs adjusting, it's easier to catch early.
Step 6 of 6
Keeping your new smile
When treatment finishes, a retainer holds your teeth where they are. Teeth naturally drift throughout life, so wearing it is what keeps the result you worked for.

The first few weeks
What changes when you start wearing clear aligners
Four small things, and none of them stop you from doing anything. Two settle on their own within days, and the other two quickly become habit.
Each new set feels snug at first
Expect pressure rather than pain, strongest for the first day or two of each new set. It fades on its own, and it's a sign the tray is doing its job.
Your speech adjusts quickly
There's usually a slight lisp at first. Your tongue gets used to the trays within a few days, and your speech goes back to normal.
Snacks become planned, not constant
The trays come out whenever you eat, so grazing all afternoon gives way to meals and snacks you choose. Soon it's simply how you eat.
A toothbrush moves into your bag
Teeth get brushed before the trays go back in, so you'll brush after meals as well as morning and night. It becomes second nature quickly.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about SureSmile clear aligners
Is SureSmile the same as Invisalign?
They're two brands of the same kind of treatment. Both are clear aligner systems: a series of clear, removable trays that move teeth gradually, instead of fixed brackets and wires. SureSmile is made by Dentsply Sirona, and Invisalign is made by Align Technology. Which system suits you depends on your case, and that's something we'll go through at your consultation.
Are clear aligners the same as clear braces?
No, although the two names get mixed up a lot. Clear braces are still braces: clear or tooth-colored brackets glued to the front of your teeth and joined by a wire, and they stay on until treatment ends. Clear aligners have no brackets or wires at all. They're removable trays you take out to eat and brush. Both are less noticeable than metal, and we'll talk through which one suits your teeth at your consultation.
How long does treatment take?
It depends entirely on how far your teeth need to move. SureSmile publishes individual patient examples on its own site that run from roughly nine to twelve months, but those are specific cases rather than an average, and yours could be shorter or longer. We'll give you a realistic estimate once we've scanned. When the aligners are finished, a retainer holds the result. Teeth keep drifting for life after any orthodontic treatment, so the retainer matters as much as the aligners do.
Will people be able to tell?
Usually not. The trays are clear and sit flat against the teeth. Most cases also use attachments, which are small clear shapes bonded to a few teeth to help the trays grip and move them. They're visible up close if someone is looking for them, and nothing like metal braces at conversational distance. They come off at the end.
Am I too old for this, or too late if I had braces?
Neither. Adults make up a large share of clear aligner patients, and teeth can be moved at any age as long as the gums and bone supporting them are healthy. Teeth shifting back after childhood braces is one of the most common reasons adults start. Checking all of that is part of the consultation.
